Termite & Pest Home Inspection Services

Homes can become infested with wood-destroying insects, such as termites, and pests. Here’s how we can tell you if you have unexpected visitors.

How Our Termite & Pest Home Inspection Services protect you

Termites and other wood-destroying insects, such as carpenter ants, love to feast on wood from the inside out. This means they can be found in many homes and properties that have wood foundations. They are very difficult to see, but evidence of their presence can be found through the markings they leave behind in the wooden material. They’re tricky to spot until the damage becomes severe, so it’s important to have an inspector come in and check it out.

And what most people don’t know, is that a colony of particularly hungry termites can consume a pound of cellulose a day. It’s usually much less than that on average; however, it can lead to severe structural damage if not inspected soon enough. The good news is, sometimes if there is evidence of termite damage, that does not necessarily mean the damage is fresh or ongoing. It may be from past termites or wood destroying insects that have since been treated. Another good thing to mention here is that an inspector will be able to know the situation and give you expert advice on how to proceed.

A termite inspection does not take long, and it’s often done along with a general home inspection. We go to the areas of the home at which termites may be eating away. We shine a flashlight in basements or look at the home’s exterior. We thoroughly inspect damage– if there is any. We also can tell you if there were any past termite treatments on the house. If there is recent damage, that might not be all bad news. An inspector can catch it before the house gets chewed away too much. From there, we can tell you what the next steps could be, whether that means fixing the damage that is already there and/or eliminating the termites altogether so they do not cause more damage.

It’s always a great idea to make sure your home-to-be is safe and secure so that you and your family can have utmost peace of mind. Schedule your home inspection now!

What's the difference between a WDO and Termite inspection

If you don’t know, “WDO” stands for “Wood Destroying Organisms,” although our inspectors call these “Wood Destroying Insects” (WDIs). Termites are a type of WDI. When we go in to inspect a house for termites, that includes the inspection of other WDIs, including carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and wood-boring beetles. We actually inspect for all WDIs at once and for just one price.

How much do your termite and pest inspections cost?

A termite (and WDI) inspection from ARK Home Inspection, costs $60 when added on to a general inspection. This is a standard price and we do a thorough job with our tests. Ask us about discounts too when you book. We always offer discounts for military personnel and first responders, and sometimes we have special offers, in general, depending on the time of year.

What Happens if We Find Termites or termite damage in the Home?

If this is the case, we will consult our trusted contractors’ list for a local pest control company that specializes in termites, as well as other pests.

From there, they will put the appropriate procedures in place to rid of the termites, so that your home will be safe and pest-free!
